Please join us for our January 2025 Dances of Universal Peace
In addition to the attunement to the changes of beginning a New Year, this will also be a "Swann-Song" Dance for our dance leader Shakura Cathryn Swann.
As you may know, swans are said to sing a beautiful song just before they die. “Swan Song” has become a metaphor for a last offering or performance before retiring or dying.
Shakura celebrated her 79th birthday on January 7th, and she has decided it's time to retire from regular dance leading. Due to some chronic health challenges and the increasing challenges of aging, she is finding that it is becoming more difficult for her to do a good job of dance leading. So although she may become inspired to lead a dance occasionally in the future, this will be her last dance as a regular leader in our circle.
We may have two additional guest dance leaders from out of town, if the weather conditions are good for their traveling. If so this dance might last a bit longer, to approximately 5pm.
Please join us to celebrate and honor this change in Shakura's life.
